Holiday Edition -- a must read

Bless God,

HAPPY HOLIDAYS! Thanks for your interest in visiting the site and reading my mails and all. You have been real great. Thanks again. I wanted to show you our achievements which the Lord has graced us to achieve; but for the season i need to let you know something. The study on suffering will continue no doubt as it is about to finish; weary of it are we?

Anyway, do you know the origin of christmas and the spirit of it. Not to cramp your style. But did you know that "the actual date of Jesus birth is unknown and christians did not have nativity feast until the 4th century. At first, January 6, the epiphany, was observed at the feast of Jesus baptism, with a secondary emphasis on his birth. The American church still kept christmas on that day. The earliest certain mention of Dec 25 as Christ occurs in the Philocalian calender (345), and that date seem to have become general through the west by the 5th century.

Dec 25 was already a major festival in the pagan roman world, the Dies Natalis Solis Invicti, as "birthday of the unconquered SUN" falling within the week long celebration of the saturnalia, a feast honouring the renewal of the SUN at the winter solstice. Pagan celebration of Dec 25 had included feasting, dancing, lighting bonfire, decorating home with greens, and giving gifts. So when this became a christian festival the custom continued but with a christian meaning to them. Its not until the 19th century that Christmas became a legal holiday in America."
Encyclopedia International, Volume 4, Pg 414

Sorry, but I have a problem with that. We are celebrating a paganistic festival or ritual cloaked, superimpose, covered by christianity. Did you know that its a curse to have a tree in your house. The bible said my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.  Whats the purpose of history? My teacher told me that its not to make the same mistake twice much more umpteen times. The Israelites were constantly chasten by the Lord with captivity, death, etc. Why? They kept cleaving to and practicing the idoltrous rituals and festivals of the uncircumcise people (Egyptian, caananites, hitittes etc). Notice that they took these rituals and tried to give God reverence with them. Hmmm, sounds familiar to something now. Let me not trouble you. I am not trying to superimpose (sarcasm) this belief. But God is still saying my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. I hope this letter, infact I know this letter will circulate all around the world and some of us might at least refrain from the commercialism of christmas. Notice I said happy holiday and not merry christmas, days off from school and work is an holiday; they are ways to get around it. Let the spirit of God give you discernment. As for me I'll be on fasting this season, send your prayer requests through the site. Remember I love you! Here is my love gift below (this is only specially for you, if you are going to forward this mail delete it as I might get in trouble for unauthorize reproduction.)
