Praise the Lord
Everyone,
On Sept 11, 2001 two
passenger airplanes crashed into the ‘late’
World Trade Centers, claiming over 5000 lives,
wounding many and causing a nation wide
grievance.
On the Eve of this
catastrophic dilemma, our nation’s president was
attending a school function. When he was
summoned for a press briefing, one thing can be
remembered, “LET US PRAY.” This statement ran
throughout every media and finally brought the
democrats and republicans on one common
ground.
It is without a fact that
this great nation was founded upon and was held
together by biblical principles shared by the
masses. What a sight to see democrats and
republicans in church together praying. The
recent tragedy has not only brought the two
parties together, but also, people from all
walks of life were praying and seeking the face
of God, through Jesus Christ. In fact, over 13
people were baptized at my small church in
Miramar the Sunday after Sept 11. Imagine the
startling numbers nation wide.
However, does it have to
take this to bring a God-fearing people to
realize that we have sunken away from the
biblical principles of which we were founded on?
Does it have to take the death of over 5000
people and the crippling of our economy for us
to realize that we can die and face
eternity?
Why didn’t we see the
warning sign?
Didn’t we say, God we don’t
need you anymore so we’ll take prayer and bible
reading out of school. What were the results? A
wave of school violence, which includes one of
the most horrific schools shooting as Columbine
High School.
We have filled our
televisions, the internet, games and every media
with violence, pornography, sex and all other
sins that God warned us are an affront to him.
What resulted? A decay of our society. I really
don’t care about amendment rights when it comes
to publishing a book about, “How to make a
bomb?” Where is the common sense? Where is the
godly reverence?
Andrea Yates drown here five
children in the bathtub and then laid their
little wet bodies out on the bed. This is the
kind of stuff from a horror fiction. What made
it even less real was the lack of emotion from
Andrea Yates and her husband.
Nicolay Soltys killed his
wife, the mother of his son, with a knife. Then
drove to the home of an Aunt and Uncle, slashing
them to death along with their two nine year old
grandchildren, Dimitry and tatyana. Bloody from
the slayings, he returned to his mother’s house
and made off with his 3 years old son; who was
later found in a cardboard box with his throat
cut.
Yes we needed to
pray.
Take a look at our talk
shows and drama presentations. Of course, we
need to pray. What about the condoms given out
in schools that encourage unwed sex. What are we
doing to ourselves? What are we nurturing for
the future generations?
My condolences to the family
of the persons that lost their lives on Sept 11
and my honor to the many men and women that
became heroes, but, this blessed country needs
to repent, repent, REPENT! God is angry, yet he
is merciful as against times passed. When Moses
led the children of Israel from Egypt, it is
recorded that God indirectly killed 24,000 of
them because they fornicated. In saying that,
some might say that God would never allow what
happened on Sept 11, 2001. However, the
scripture will speak for itself, “shall there be
evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?”
(Amos 3:6)
Remember, we are talking
about the great architect of the Universe; the
one many try to put in a box. God is great and
greatly to be praised. He is in control of every
event that happens in the world and he can
choose to intervene and not to intervene so that
his purpose will be fulfilled. Remember he said,
“I form the light, and create darkness: I make
peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these
[things]”(Isaiah 45:7).
Jesus is coming back soon.
He is coming for his children in the blessed
rapture, which could be anytime. It is called
‘the great and dreadful day of the Lord.’ It
always puzzled me, how could it be great and
dreadful at the same time. Then it dawned on me,
it’s going to be great for us who are truly
regenerate because we are going into a glorious
eternity, but it is going to be dreadful for
those who reject or don’t even bother to seek
Jesus. Not only those, but those who came to
church after Sept 11 out of fear, got baptized
and after everything has ceased down went back
out into the world. It will be more tolerable
for the worst of sinners in the “lake of fire”
than for them! Because they know the truth,
heard it and acted upon it, but not with a truly
repentant heart; in fact, only trying to catch
the train thinking it’s probably time to
leave.
Guess what, it doesn’t work
that way! If someone presumptuously continue to
live a life of sin, thinking to catch the train
at the end will never do so, for Paul clearly
taught us, “The Lord knoweth how to deliver the
godly out of temptation and to reserve the
unjust unto the day of judgment to be
punished”(2 Pet 2:9).
Please inform your friends
and congregations about this, if you haven’t.
Nevertheless, many won’t understand. So let us
do the next best thing, “LET US
PRAY!”
